Channing Tatum's role as wrestler Mark Schultz in "Foxcatcher" is reportedly so intense that it caused him his head, literally. One scene in the sports drama will show how the actor hurt himself on the head while filming. This particular shot even made it to the final cut.

The Hollywood Reporter sat down with movie director Bennett Miller, who detailed how Channing Tatum was so passionate in his portrayal of Mark Schultz in "Foxcatcher." A behind-the-scenes look at the Nov. 14 film shows one particular scene where the actor punches himself then bangs his head against a mirror. Miller recalled the intensity of Channing Tatum's portrayal that the actor even injured himself.

"On one occasion, Tatum became so consumed with a scene where he has to smash his head against a mirror, he drew blood," he said.

The said mirror was supposedly covered with a plastic sheath. However, the protective covering was apparently too weak against Tatum's strength. Channing eventually shattered the mirror.

"He punched that thing with his head three times and shattered it, and put his head through it and through the frame behind the mirror and through the drywall that the mirror was hanging on and left a divot two inches deep," Miller said in the interview.

Miller recalled that Channing Tatum actually bore a hole into the wall with his head. He claimed that he saw the hole when they took the mirror down. Additionally, the actor reportedly even cut himself in the process. According to Miller, this one particular scene in "Foxcatcher" will eventually show the actor's real blood. Cinemablend backed up Miller's narrative with an image showing the actor repeatedly punching himself on the face then relentlessly banged his head against the mirror.

According to THR, Channing Tatum initially had no intention to star in the movie when Miller first gave him the script. However, a few years later the pair reportedly got to talk about its story, which prompted the actor to reread the script and realise that it was after all interesting.

Playing Mark Schultz in "Foxcatcher" required Channing Tatum to bulk up. He reportedly had to gain 20 pounds and go through marathon training. THR claimed he even spent a week with the real-life Mark Schultz, who is now 54-years old, to learn wrestling. The actor supposedly called the flow sport as "unbelievably suffocating" for its lack of rest time.
