Arielle Kebbel, who portrayed the character Lexi Branson in “The Vampire Diaries,” or “TVD,” has opened up in an interview about her work experience in the CW TV series. Kebbel, 30, admitted that her stint in “The Vampire Diaries” is one of the best things about her acting career.

“Some of my best career moments happen completely out of my control,” Kebbel said in an interview with TV Line. Kebbel further shared that she had no idea how the fans would react when she was introduced in the show as the best friend of Stefan Salvatore, played by Paul Wesley.

Kebbel, who portrays recurring character Tracy Legette in HBO’s comedy TV series “Ballers,” recounted that the writers of the CW TV series started to write more on Lexi in “The Vampire Diaries” because the viewers want to see more of Lexi on the show even though her character got killed off. In “The Vampire Diaries” Season 1 episode 8 titled “162 Candles,” Damon Salvatore, played by Ian Somerhalder, initially framed Lexi for the death of a local boy and then eventually killed Stefan’s best friend.

“That, to me, is one of those moments where, without the fans and the writers being willing and [executive producer] Julie [Plec] having a big-picture idea of how [Lexi] fits in, it never would’ve happened that way,” Kebbel explained to TV Line. Lexi Branson was last seen as a ghost on the Other Side in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 5 episode 22 titled “Home.”

After losing Lexi, Stefan found a new best friend in Caroline Forbes, played by Candice Accola. Afterward, Stefan’s relationship with Caroline was taken to the next level in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6.

However, the Stefan-Caroline or “Steroline” relationship will continue to face some issues in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7. Series creator and executive producer Julie Plec teased in a TV Line interview during the Television Critics Association, or TCA, summer press tour that there will be a fun curveball to be thrown at the new “TVD” couple.

“I would say Stefan and Caroline are part of one of the bigger surprises of the season, which we’ll unfold around Episode 6 or 7,” Plec told TV Line. “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 will premiere on Thursday night, Oct. 8, at 8/7c on the CW Network.
