The city of Sydney saw 300 happy customers yesterday when popular American burger joint In-n-Out opened a pop-up store in Surry Hills.

The store was due to open from midday to 4pm, and the anticipation of the Surry Hills In-n-Out Burger pop-up store saw fans lining up from 6am in temperatures that reached 39 degrees Celsius.

However, most queuers were turned away half an hour before the pop-up was expected to open its doors, as burgers were already sold out by 11:30am.

So if you missed out on an In-N-Out burger yesterday, or can’t see the point of queueing up for hours for anything, don’t worry. There are plenty of other burger options in Sydney. Save yourself the hassle of a sweaty hours-long wait and head to another less crowded, air-conditioned, but just as good burger restaurant in the city. Here are five of the best burger restaurants and joints in Sydney to try.

For an All-American burger experience, Mary’s is the place to go. Donning a Rock ‘n’ Roll vibe, and rustic interior, this burger restaurant proves that to truly enjoy a great burger one must enjoy the entire experience surrounding the masticating of said burger. Put aside an evening to enjoy one of Mary’s famous burgers and fried chicken pieces accompanied with a local craft beer. Rock ‘n’ Roll bliss.
