Floyd Mayweather Jr. is notorious in making unnecessary expenses and spending massive amounts on luxurious things. Recently, the undefeated Grand Rapids native boxer reportedly splurged on a shopping spree worth $500,000 at the Diamond District.

According to a report by the New York Post, Mayweather and his entourage were spotted at New York’s Diamond District on 47th Street on Saturday afternoon. Sources told the news gazette that Mayweather spent “hundreds of thousands of dollars” on diamond-encrusted watches and jewelries on various jewelers’ kiosks. Even though most of the shops at 47th Street were closed on weekends, Mayweather has requested the owners to open up their stores so he can satisfy his craving to splurge on expensive jewelries.

The report further said that among the pricey items that Mayweather bought include a yellow-gold necklace worth $35,000, a diamond chain worth $55,000, and a couple of watches worth $15,000. Another insider said that Mayweather, apparently, always visits the Diamond District at least once every month to either buy bling or have his old jewelries upgraded or downgraded.

As stated on its website, Diamond District is the largest shopping district for all shapes and sizes of diamonds in the world. It is situated on the West 47th Street connecting Fifth and Sixth Avenue in Manhattan.

Mayweather, has still one more fight left in his lucrative six-fight multi-million contract with Showtime, has recently successfully defended his undefeated winning streak against Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines in the bout billed as the “Fight of the Century” on May 2 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather and Pacquiao split the $300 million purse. Mayweather took the lion’s share of the purse equivalent to 60 percent while Pacquiao agreed to take home 40 percent.

Yahoo Sports estimated that that were 5.63 million pay-per-view buys from the said super fight, which reportedly broke the record of the combined buys from DirectTV, AT&T U-Verse, Verizon, and Dish Network’s 2.25 million. Prior the fight, Mayweather was already ranked as the highest-earning athlete in the world by Forbes. His salary amounted to $105 million.
