Floyd Mayweather’s Melbourne promotional appearances had been rescheduled for Feb. 5, with the undefeated American boxer likely to arrive next Monday, Feb. 2, or Tuesday, Feb. 3. Mayweather’s visit to Australia was originally scheduled on Jan. 27, according to The Daily Telegraph Australia, but Sydney publicist Max Markson revealed that it was delayed because the highest-paid sportsman decided to bring an entourage of 31 and the logistics were reworked.

Floyd Mayweather, who is set to arrive with five other boxers, had not yet been granted a visa. The 37-year-old has done time in jail for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, and Domestic Violence Victoria CEO Fiona McCormack called to bar Floyd Mayweather from entering Australia. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews also suggested that the five-division world champion would be unwelcome.

“His history of violence is shocking,” immigration lawyer Martin Salvo said. “However, given the short duration of the stay, his high profile and possible indirect positive tourism impacts for Australia, they may not knock him back.”

If Mayweather is granted a visa, the visa can be cancelled under the character test once the boxer arrives at the airport. As such, a visa can be approved, but then it may still be cancelled upon arrival, Salvo added. In other words, after making the long flight to the land down under, Mayweather could still be turned away at the airport and sent home.

If Mayweather and his entourage arrive in Australia, the undefeated boxer will have a media conference at which he is expected to announce whether or not he will fight the Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas on May 2. Mayweather is also expected to participate in parties and dinners in Melbourne and Sydney during his visit.

This week, in theory, Floyd Mayweather will announce the man he has selected to fight in May. Manny Pacquiao set a deadline for Team Money until the end of this month and claimed that it’s now or never if Mayweather wants to fight him. The 36-year-old revealed that if they will not fight in May, he does not see the two of them ever fighting each other. Manny Pacquiao insists that now is the time to fight Mayweather and claims that he is okay to take 40 percent of the purse for the sake of the fans.
