“The Flash” Season 3 is currently in development. Rumors recently surfaced that Jesse Wells (Violett Beane) will return in the new season, although it remains unknown whether she will have powers.

Cinema Blend quotes Beane in saying that she is certain that her character will return, although she does not know whether Jesse will be with or without powers. It was previously hinted that Season 3 of “The Flash” will be largely inspired by the “Flashpoint” storyline in the comics. The actress said that anything can happen with that kind of plot, since it is literally open to any type of false reality. She could come back as a speedster or Earth-1 Jesse. There is also a chance that Jesse may return at a later date during the season.

At the end of Season 2, The Flash went back in time to change the outcome of how he rescued his mother. The story opened a lot of opportunities to create an alternate reality.

The most basic version of Jesse Wells would be her Earth-2 self. It was, however, also the version that was exposed to Barry’s (Grant Gustin) super-dust after the botched accelerator blast in Season 2. If Earth-2 Jesse returns, she may be a speedster. If Jesse’s Earth-1 self comes back, she is expected to be entirely different. She may also be the partner of Earth-3 Jay Garrick.

TVLine notes that if Beane were to decide, she would love to play a speedster early in Season 3. If she does, it is also very likely that Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale), who was also exposed to the super-dust, will resurface as a speedster. The Flash will then have a couple of new speedsters working by his side, which will mean a more powerful team. The storyline will also need to step up to match the more powerful STAR Labs group, which means featuring meaner villains and bigger risks.

Tom Cavanagh, who plays Harrison Wells, and Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp) were also slated to return next season.

“The Flash” Season 3 will air on Oct. 4, 2016 on The CW. It also airs on Fox8 in Australia. More updates and details are expected soon.
