In “The Flash” Season 2 Episode 20, Barry (Grant Gustin) attempts to regain his superpowers by recreating the particle accelerator explosion. There will be risks involved, but he seems convinced that it is needed to stop Zoom.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “The Flash" Season 2 spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the new episode airs.

“Zoom arrives back on Earth-1 intent on taking over Central City. Barry and Wells (Tom Cavanagh) come up with a plan to stop Zoom once and for all but it's extremely dangerous. Unsure if he should take the risk, Barry reaches out to both fathers for advice,” states the episode synopsis.

Although Barry managed to defeat Griffin Grey in the last episode even without his powers, Zoom is a much more powerful enemy who can predict Barry's moves. Several episodes were spent featuring Barry just trying to be faster than Zoom, so it would at least be important that he reacquire his superhuman speed first before going after his arch-nemesis.

Episode 20, titled “Rupture,” features the return of Zoom to Earth-1 to control Central City. Barry previously lost his speed to Zoom and had to deal with ordinary life. However, he will attempt to regain his super speed by recreating the life-changing particle accelerator explosion.

Although it is still uncertain whether the blast will work, there are risks that Barry should be already be aware of. Barry’s father cited that the last time they tried, Barry ended up in a coma. If he ended up in the same condition or worse, Zoom may take over the city for several months or indefinitely. On the contrary, there seems to be no other choice to stop Zoom.

The character Rupture will arrive in Central City to seek revenge for his brother Reverb’s death. Rupture is the Earth-2 version of Cisco’s (Carlos Valdes) brother, Dante (guest star Nicholas Gonzalez).

During the episode, Iris West (Candice Patton) and Barry Allen get to have a romantic moment. Iris may finally decide that she is ready to share with Barry how she feels for him.

“The Flash” Season 2 Episode 20 will air on May 3, 2016 on The CW in the US. It also airs on Fox8 in Australia.
