“The Flash” Season 2, Episode 20 (“Rupture”) aired May 3 on The CW, shocking viewers toward the end. Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is believed to have died, as two new speedsters are born. Meanwhile, Black Sire, the doppelganger of Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), makes her way to Earth-1.

Spoiler alert: This review recaps the highlights of “The Flash” Season 2, Episode 20. It also includes some details on what happens next in Episode 21, which will air on The CW on May 10.

To quickly recap The Flash 2x20, Zoom a.k.a. Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) wreaks havoc in Central City, killing cops and media people. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) could only watch in horror as her teammates scramble for solutions at S.T.A.R. Labs. Earth-2 Harry Wells (Tom Cavanagh) lobbies for a particle accelerator repeat. Barry is left with no choice in the end, even as his dad Henry (John Wesley Shipp) was not in favour of the idea.

‘The Flash’ Season 2: Who is Rupture?

Cisco’s brother Dante Ramon (Nicholas Gonzalez) learns about Vibe, Earth-2 and Zoom in The Flash 2x20. Dante also comes face to face with his doppelganger Rupture, Earth-2 brother of Reverb.

In the DC Comics, Reverb (later Hardline) and Rupture have more complex yet lightly explored lives. It would not be surprising if “The Flash” would have one or more versions of Cisco and Dante in its multiverse.

What happened to Barry Allen?

Fans know Barry Allen could not possibly be dead, but Iris West (Candace Patton) seems to be convinced that Barry is really gone – so soon after she finally confessed to her feelings for him. “The Flash” Season 2, Episode 20 also shows a very angry Henry Allen who is convinced he lost his son. Explanations and reasons for Barry’s inadvertent “vanishing act” is expected from the next episode.

New speedsters in The Flash: Jesse Quick and Wally West a.k.a. Kid Flash

Meanwhile, two more DC Comics speedsters are expected to be unleashed on “The Flash” Season 2: Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) and Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale).

Wally West, first known in DC Comics as Kid Flash in the 1950s, was predicted to suit up soon after his first appearance in “The Flash” Season 2. Harry Wells’ daughter Jesse is the TV version of Jesse Chambers, also from the DC Universe. They absorb the effects of the particle accelerator explosion repeat in The Flash 2x20.

The fight between Barry and Zoom is culminating in “The Flash” Season 2. The show is doing a great job in taking fans for a ride without forgetting to drop some pop culture references every now and then. In the middle of the particle accelerator explosion repeat, Cisco’s 'Expecto Patronum!’ brought a smile to Harry Potter fans.

What happens next? Black Canary’s doppelganger Black Siren vs The Flash!

The next episode of “The Flash” Season 2 on The CW is titled “The Runaway Dinosaur.” The metahuman opposing Team Flash is Girder. Black Canary's doppelganger, Black Siren, leads a pack of metahumans from Earth-2 in the succeeding episode, The Flash 2x22, titled “Invincible.”
