Fans of the F.Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" will be thrilled to find out that the production of the epic remake is already taking place in Australia.

Famed actor Leonardo Di Caprio will play Jay Gatsby in the Baz Luhrmann-directed remake of one of the most successful literary works ever made. DiCaprio, along with co-star and friend Toby Maguire (who will play Nick Carraway) were spotted riding a vintage convertible around the set. Actress Isla Fisher was also spotted, donning full make up and hairdo as she plays the role of Myrtle Wilson. "Gatsby" is Luhrmann and DiCaprio's first reunion since the two worked together in the highly acclaimed "Romeo + Juliet," the film that quickly made the teen heartthrob an A-list celebrity.

British actress and Oscar-nominated talent Carey Mulligan has not arrived in the Aussie set yet, but director Lhurmann has high hopes for the star. Mulligan won the coveted role of Daisy Buchanan, whom she had to battle against stars like Kiera Knightley, Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively - DiCaprio's current girlfriend who he met on the audition process.

While Luhrmann had to decide which one to cast for the illustrious Daisy Buchanan, he quickly leaned towards the British beauty, whose past works include "Wall Street," and a stellar performance for the movie adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's "Never Let Me Go". It was said in a report that the director personally called Mulligan to say "Hello, Miss Daisy Buchanan."

"Regarding the role of Daisy Buchanan, I was privileged to explore the character with some of the world's most talented actresses, each one bringing their own particular interpretation, all of which were legitimate and exciting," says Luhrmann in an interview a year ago.

"'However, specific to this particular production of The Great Gatsby, I was thrilled to pick up the phone an hour ago to the young Oscar-nominated British actress Carey Mulligan and say to her, "Hello, Daisy Buchanan." added the director in the same interview.
