We were led to previously believe the Xiaomi Mi5 would debut on Nov. 24 at an event in Beijing. That announcement never materialized. It now seems the Mi5’s likely to launch in January 2016 and roll out in stores on February 8, according to Chinese market analyst, Pan Jiutang.

Though there’s no proof to validate his claim, his accurate predictions of the Huawei-made Google Nexus 6P’s release make us believe his revelations will again be on the mark. Jiutang is known for making meticulous predictions, reports IBTimes.co.in.

During the launch event for Redmi Note 3, Mi Water Purifier 2 and Mi Pad 2, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said the Mi5 is under production. He further described the phone's prototype model, but didn’t confirm a release date. Also read about this.

Lei also said the company takes about 12 to 18 months to develop a flagship model and launch it. Therefore, Jiutang’s prediction about the Mi5’s release suggests the device’s release date might fall within a similar time-frame.

Let’s a have a quick glance at the phone’s new features: a 5.2-inch QHD display screen with 2560 x 1440 pixels; a 16 MP primary camera embedded with dual-LED flash and PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) and a 5 MP front camera having a wide-viewing angle.

Powered by 4 GB RAM and Adreno 530, the phone has Android 6.0 Marshmallow running at its core. Its Snapdragon 820 series quad-core processor produces the smooth performance and function of the phone.

The phone’s 3030 mAH battery’s not powerful enough for heavy office work, but is powerful enough to support moderate work for a sustainable time period. The device comes in two versions: 32 GB and 62 GB.

The other add-ons include a USB Type-C port; advanced 3D fingerprint sensor; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v4.1.
