The announcement from Square Enix that “Final Fantasy XV” has already completed the pre-beta development undoubtedly got fans excited. Even more so because this was coupled with the announcement that the developer will somehow manage to include Moogles in the game even in a small way.

However, the excitement seems to have caught fans in a frenzy, and Square Enix has taken matters into its hands to avoid blowing up the confusion out of proportion. PlayStation Lifestyle spotted the statement made by Community Manager Dan Seto has clarified a few things about this statement.

Content-wise, it appears that “Final Fantasy XV” is not yet completely finished. He clarified that pre-beta means that this is a step forward into a beta version, so the game is not there yet in terms of development. The developer still has some things that can be added into it, such as the mentioned Moogles, so changes are still possible. But the game is close to getting to the beta, if that means anything.

The developer has also provided a few new insights on the technology used in “Final Fantasy XV.” In an event held in Japan, Square Enix had shared that the team used some recent techniques that would simulate clothes and hair using detailed vertex. This allows for better simulation of soft and smooth materials. However, the same does not go well for other stiffer materials like hair, DualShockers reported.

Another technique was used to render this for other harder materials, which include muscles, food and even bone. An extra challenge, ironically, is the hairstyle of characters. Given that some of the hairstyles are more artistically than logically and physically-possible designed, this requires an extra step to break the physics of hair without necessarily veering away from the original character design.

A lot more of the technology used in “Final Fantasy XV” is detailed in the presentation. A full version of the presentation can be seen in the link here. “Final Fantasy XV” will launch on the PS4 and Xbox One come 2016.
