Fans have long anticipated the next main addition to the “Final Fantasy” series since it was first revealed nine years ago at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, 2006 as “Final Fantasy Versus XIII.” Since then, the name of the game was officially changed to "Final Fantasy XV," and fans have been teased regarding the game's official release date. Now the game’s director, Hajime Tabata, has revealed that they are aiming for a global simultaneous launch for the next chapter of “Final Fantasy.”

In an interview with Gamespot, “Final Fantasy XV” director Tabata said that the game will be the first main “Final Fantasy” to be released on all regions at once. He added that this will be the first time that they are going to do a simultaneous global launch for a standalone “Final Fantasy” game, and he admitted that they are not quite prepared to do it yet. According to him, to accomplish it, he needs to rearrange first the internal structure of the company to prepare them for such a feat. Aiming for a global release could also reportedly cause a possible delay in the game.

“Final Fantasy XV” was present at Gamescom last week and fans were delighted to see director Tabata reveal a slew of details for the upcoming game. One of the biggest news revealed was that the game is set to be released before 2017.

Aside from the possible release date of the game, Square Enix also revealed a new trailer called “Final Fantasy XV: Dawn.” The trailer seen below is a short video which shows the events 15 years prior to “Final Fantasy XV.” It shows the game’s main protagonist Noctis as a child sleeping in the arms of his saddened father, King Regis. At the end of the trailer, King Regis is seen looking at three giant beings. Some fans pointed out that they could be the Eidolons that Noctis can summon, but Tabata confirmed that the three beings are different entities found in the game.
