"Fifty Shades of Grey" has finally been given its MPAA rating. It may not come as a surprise for fans of the E.L. James original book source that the movie has been considered graphic.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film has been rated R for its nude scenes which are believed to be explicit. "Fifty Shades of Grey" reportedly has "strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity and for language." Per Movieweb, the R rating is a close call to the NC-17 rating producers had supposedly feared. Furthermore, it may also not come as a surprise since the book itself is also considered very explicit.

"The book is extremely graphic and the makers of the studio were understandably concerned over the material and how the MPAA might perceive some of it," writer Brian Gallagher said.

Additionally, Cinema Blend claims producers were anticipating for an NC-17 rating considering the book's graphic scenes. There was reportedly no question on whether "Fifty Shades of Grey" will contain sexual content, since that's basically rich in E.L. James' book. Thus, speculations were allegedly pointing to an NC-17 rating for the movie adaptation based on the book.

The book centers on the story of Anastacia Steele, a college student who starts an affair with the 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey. Slowly Steele is being introduced to the world of S&M. Some of these S&M scenes in the book are believed to be very explicit. However, per Cinema Blend the movie's R rating means there's not going to be a page-for-page adaptation of these sex scenes. Jamie Dornan, who plays Christian Grey, will reportedly not even go full frontal in the movie. But as for Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastacia Steele, it's believed she will be appearing fully naked.

Likewise, in an interview with Elle U.K., Dornan claims there's so much more going on in "Fifty Shades of Grey." The love story is more important than the BDSM aspect," he revealed. The scenes wouldn't be all about Anastacia Steele's introduction into the world of BDSM inside Grey's room full of kinky sex toys. Referred to as the Red Room, Dornan claims the movie will not focus on what happens inside but will basically tell the romance happening between Steele and Grey.
