Fifty Shades of Grey movie casting is expected to be officially announced soon. "Terra Nova" writer Kelly Marcel has long been finished with the screenplay off E.L. James' erotic series. Sam Taylor-Johnson has taken the director's chair. Auditions have reportedly been done for the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Now "Gossip Girl" fans would like to know whether Chace Crawford is in or out.

Chace Crawford was interested in playing Christian Grey, the young billionaire sex demigod in James' Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. Chace dished his thoughts about playing Grey in an interview with FOX411. Gossip Girl ended in December 2012, and Chace was looking into his prospects at the time of the interview.

Here are the Top 5 signs that Chace Crawford could snag the role of Christian Grey:

1. The Gossip Girl role. Dapper and gorgeous as Nate Archibald, there is no doubt Chace could shift smoothly into the billionaire Christian Grey.

2. Youth. Chace has recently turned 28, the same age as Mr Grey at the beginning of the Fifty Shades series.

3. Smokin' youthful, piercing blue eyes. Chace's photos on Twitter, Tumblr and other social media sites are more than enough to explain why many fans are rooting for him to play Grey.

4. Chace Crawford is interested in playing Grey. News broke recently that "On the Road" actor Garrett Hedlund, also 28, gave the Christian Grey role a thumbs-down. This info could imply that 1.) the producers are looking for actors under 30, and 2.) Chace is not too different from the producers' first choice.

5. The Fifty Shades of Grey movie will be a sexy-yet-romantic film. Marcel had previously said she would highlight the love story in James' erotic series. Chace Crawford has the vibe that could make any scene romantic if not sizzling hot.
