Fifty Shades of Grey movie casting is still a work in progress among fans committed to their favorite erotic series. The actual casting people, however, are not dishing important intel just yet, saying it is too soon to name an actor for the role of Christian Grey. As more celebrity names are being thrown in the mix of Grey candidates, some Matt Bomer fans are losing hope that the actor could still snag the role.

Matt Bomer, more popularly known as Neal Caffrey in USA's "White Collar," is one of the early favorites to play Christian Grey. He is joined by other gorgeous actors like Ian Somerhalder ("Vampire Diaries") and Henry Cavill ("Immortals," "Man of Steel 2013") among others. Today, more names have come up as Grey candidates. Stephen Amell ("Arrow") and Chace Crawford ("Gossip Girl") are only two of the names rising in public attention in relation to the controversial movie.

Last year, a screenwriter hopeful slammed fans who have been supporting Bomer for the Grey role. On Twitter, American Psycho" author Brett Ellis hinted Bomer being gay is enough reason to not cast him as Christian Grey. (Incidentally, Ellis lost to Kelly Marcel for the film production's role of Fifty Shades of Grey screenwriter.)

Also on Twitter, a fan of FSOG brought up the age issue in relation to Bomer and the Grey role. At 35, Bomer is reportedly too old to play a late-20s man at the beginning of the trilogy. Naturally, Bomer's fans have been relentless, arguing that the White Collar actor looks young enough for the coveted role.

For her part, Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James said earlier her own Christian Grey peg is an actor unlikely to be chosen by fans. Asked to describe what Mr Grey would embody, James told Entertainmentwise: "I think emotional intelligence, a sense of humor - those kinds of things."
