The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie producers may be looking into casting Australian actress Lauren Watson for the role of Anastasia Steele. But consistent polls leader Alexis Bledel is not officially out of the game just yet.

Anastasia Steele, Rory Gilmore, and Alexis Bledel

Bledel has consistently led various online polls in the several months that Fifty Shades casting discussions has been circulating online. Bledel rose to fame as Rory Gilmore in The CW series "Gilmore Girls," which ran for seven years. Many fans could see Rory in the Anastasia Steele character and it hardly matters that Bledel is about a decade older than Ana.

Apparently, however, one only has to see a couple of Bledel's photos to determine she could pull off a Steele-y vibe. Bledel naturally exudes the combination of naivete, quiet allure and sex appeal that drew Christian Grey to Ana.

Then came Lauren Watson. An online poll by Daily Quirk showed Watson ranked second to Bledel among popular fan choices for the Ana Steele role. While Bledel's camp has been mum on the Fifty Shades casting rumors, Watson herself finds no trouble in expressing her genuine interest in playing the sex submissive character. She even thought of Chace Crawford as a potential Christian Grey. Watson's Twitter account is also filled with retweets from sources of Fifty Shades updates.

Watson seems promising as Ana Steele. She has the same qualities of Bledel without the fame earned from a long-running TV series. This could give the Fifty Shades film execs a great "branding" opportunity. They might want to cast a relative newbie in the industry than someone who already has strong links to previous works, be it a film saga or a TV series.

Fifty Shades of Grey Movie Director: Channing Tatum or Mark Wahlberg?

If Watson snags the Anastasia Steele role, it would only prove that the loudest noise does not necessarily guarantee a sure deal.

Fifty Shades movie producers are expected to announce some casting decisions soon. Screenplay writer Kelly Marcel has started working on the film script last month and a director may soon be hired.
