‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 1: ‘Paranoia’, ‘Anxiety’ And ‘Disquieting feeling’ Reveals Showrunner Dave Erickson

The spin-off series of “The Walking Dead” is set to premiere this August on AMC. “Fear The Walking Dead” will revolve around the outbreak in Los Angeles. Showrunner Dave Erickson has stated that the new show will have a “level of paranoia.”

“Fear The Walking Dead” showrunner Erickson talked to Entertainment Weekly about what fans can expect from the new spin-off show. When asked about the effect of the physical environment of Los Angeles in the making of “Fear The Walking Dead,” he mentioned that it is “denser.”

“We’ve shot primarily in east L.A. and whenever we’re outside in that environment and you look out and see the hills that are stacked with houses, and you see the freeways — just the sense of density and population for the audience in the pilot and the first few episodes — they’re a little bit ahead of our characters,” Erickson said.

He added that they are aware what is coming and there is anxiety for the core family to realise the danger and learn the survival tactics. “For us, it was always about the shark you don’t see in the beginning of the show, and it was trying to understand something very wrong is happening and what is it?” Erickson said that there is a level of paranoia and anxiety initially. Moreover, there is a “psychological tension” in the beginning of “Fear The Walking Dead.”

The showrunner also stated during the interview that “Fear The Walking Dead” has the vibe of “The Walking Dead” comic book. He also stated that they have used things they love in terms of story and elements from the comic book.
