A man from Louisiana has been taken into custody after shooting his 18-year-old son as they had an argument over inadequate orange juice in their home. According to the police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the man has been charged with use of illegal weapons and attempted manslaughter after being taken into custody.

According to the police report to the Advocate, the incident took place at the time of the Sunday morning breakfast when 58-year-old Eldridge Dukes and his 18-year-old son started an argument over insufficient amount of orange juice at their home. The teenage son allegedly broke the porcelain vase and damaged the home as the father started chasing the son out at the front door with a handgun.

The police spokesman Corporal Don Coppola revealed after the investigation that the fight escalated quickly and agitated Dukes opened fire at his son. Out of the three fired shots, one shot hit the son in his butt. The son was immediately transferred to a hospital, however, the injury was not declared as threatening to the teenager's life.

The injured boy's mother called the police immediately after the incident and Dukes confessed that he was unable to manage his anger and ended up shooting his own son. The father allegedly used a .357 revolver to shoot his son.

According to the jail records, bail for Dukes was set at an amount of $60,000. The jail authorities refrained from providing the name of the defence attorney, therefore, no official comment on the charges has been reported.
