On Saturday November 30 2013, Hollywood has lost a great star, Paul Walker of Universal Pictures' "Fast & Furious" fame died in a single-car crash in California according to a post on his official Facebook page.

"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. The 40-year-old Walker was travelling in a friend's car while going to attend a charity event for his organization "Reach Out Worldwide."

"Sadly I must confirm that Paul did pass away today in a car accident," Walker's representative Ame Van Iden told NBC News. An unfortunate car crash took place north of Los Angeles in the community of Valencia. Authorities responded to the mishap at 3:30 p.m. local time the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station told NBCLosAngeles.com.

KNBC reported that the car was swallowed up in flames and extinguished by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, KNBC reported. Authorities found two persons within the car after the fire was put out, officials said and both were marked dead at the scene. Investigation is going on to find the cause of the crash. At the time of his demise, Walker was working on the latest "Fast & Furious" film. The "Fast & Furious" franchise is a series of action films portraying street racing.

On Saturday Universal Pictures released a statement which reads: "All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the FAST AND FURIOUS films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family."

Paul walker's death hoax gained foothold on Friday after a 'R.I.P. Paul Walker' Facebook page attracted nearly one million of 'likes' and the 'About' page were given a convincing account of the actor's demise:

"At about 11 a.m. ET on Friday (November 29, 2013), our beloved actor Paul Walker passed away. Paul Walker was born on September 12, 1973 in Glendale. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page."Hundreds of fans immediately started writing their messages of condolence on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that the talented 40-year-old actor was dead. And as usual, Twitter sphere was frenzied over the death hoax.

Whereas some trusting fans believed the post, others were immediately sceptical of the report, perhaps learning their lesson from the huge amount of fake death reports emerging about celebrities over recent months. Some pointed out that the news had not been carried on any major American network, indicating that it was a fake report, as the death of an actor of Paul Walker's stature would be major news across networks.

A recent poll conducted for the Celebrity Post shows that a large majority (68%) of respondents think those Paul Walker death rumours are not funny anymore. Paul Walker Death Hoax Dismissed Since Actor Is "Alive And Well." On Saturday (Nov. 30) the actor's reps officially confirmed that Paul Walker is not dead. "He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet."
