“Fast & Furious 7” has yet to be released in other countries and already Vin Diesel is talking about its sequel, “Fast & Furious 8.” What fans will see in the planned sequel is still too early to tell. While promoting “Fast & Furious 7,” Vin Diesel also revealed that “Fast &Furious 8” is definitely in the works and will see his character, Dominic Toretto, back in action. According to Screenrant, the actor further claimed that Toretto’s family will also be greatly involved in the sequel. Diesel also revealed that Kurt Russel’s involvement in “Fast & Furious 7” actually sets him up for the sequel.

Apparently, according to Slashfillm, Kurt Russel’s character doesn’t die in Fast & Furious 7.” His character’s origin was reportedly not very much explained in the film since Dominic’s battle with Shaw (Jason Statham) was the main focus. However, Vin Diesel seems to suggest that “Furious 8” will see the importance of Russell’s still unnamed character in the story. Speaking about Russell’s introduction in “Furious 7,” Vin Diesel said, “Kurt Russell came in for this movie but we really hired him because of a story that follows his.” (See video below at the 2:35 mark).

Vin Diesel further revealed during this week’s appearance at “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that “Fast & Furious 8” will be filmed in New York. The “Fast & Furious” franchise has so far utilised the streets of Los Angeles, Miami, Tokyo, Panama, Rio de Janeiro and London to showcase its death-defying car stunts. It’s a wonder what the studio will show next in New York.

According to Screenrant, Kurt Russell is not the only actor that’s set to return in “Fast & Furious 8.” “Tokyo Drift” star Lucas Black has reportedly signed on for two additional “Furious” films. His brief appearance in “Furious 7” supposedly sets him up for future sequels including “Furious 8.”

An official announcement on the production of “Fast & Furious 8” has yet to be announced. But according to Slashfilm, it’s likely that Chris Morgan will be back to pen the script. As for cast updates, so far Vin Diesel has only confirmed Kurt Russell’s return.
