Those still waiting to pre-order the Pip-Boy Edition of the upcoming "Fallout 4" game are in for some disappointing news. Bethesda’s VP for Marketing Pete Hines has recently confirmed that the production for the Pip-Boy has hit its limit.

Hines told Gamespot at QuakeCon 2015 that the company has reached the factory limit on making the collector's edition of the game. The Pip-Boy has been a hit since its reveal at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) back in June, but supplies ran out fast as preorders flooded Bethesda.

"We reached a point where we'd go back to the factories and they were like, 'guys, this is it, sorry. This is as long as we can run the lines and as many of them as we can make,'” Hines said, as quoted by Gamespot.

Currently, the Pip-Boys are still in production, but Bethesda will no longer accept pre-orders for the edition. Hines added that the factories responsible for the Pip-Boys had to shift orders between factories to meet the demands, which proved too much for the supply. To put things in perspective, Hines compared the pre-orders for the Pip-Boy Edition to the previous limited editions by Bethesda. Putting them all together, his estimate put the Pip-Boy Edition far more than any other edition Bethesda came up with in the past.

The "Fallout 4" Pip-Boy Edition ships with a replica of the Pip-Boy found in the game. According to Gamerant, the replica is able to hold a wide selection of smartphones, is fully functional and can be utilized with "Fallout 4." Users can download a companion app via Google Playstore or the Apple Appstore. However, it was earlier reported that smartphones as big as the iPhone 6 Plus will not fit in the case.

Players can then use the app for a variety of functions within the game including levelling up a character and playing mini-games like "Donkey Kong" and "Missile Command." The collector’s edition also includes other physical items such as a stand, metal case for the game and a poster.

"Fallout 4" Pip-Boy Edition costs US$120 (AU$ 164), but it's now sold out everywhere including the Bethesda Store and GAME. However, it has appeared on resale at Amazon for about US$300 (AU$ 409).
