With the increasing number of Facebook users accessing via their smart mobile units, the company has recently unveiled two new apps to keep the avid users more engaged in the social platform.

According to the first quarter report from Market Watch, Facebook now has 1.01 billion active users monthly that access the Web site using their smart mobile phones or tablets. Facebook reached this high mark in a year and a half since the social media mobile platfcomes into being.

Facebook Audience Network (FAN)

To keep the mobile users engaged in the platform, Facebook mobile introduced the mobile ad network called Facebook Audience Network (FAN) that will enable marketers to come up with ads that are both standard banner and customized for the target mobile users.

With the data on biographical location, interests, work history, education and other similar data that Facebook users put into their account, FAN collates the generated data. In turn, this provides ads that match with the viewer's profile.

Facebook mobile users may view the ads through the standard mobile ads unit like mobile filmstrip, mobile pull, adhesion banner, full page flex or slider found at the dropdown menu. Also, mobile users who accessed Facebook using this platform can experience ads on a wide array of products based on the apps they use.

For instance, those who replaced their Android screen with a lockscreen or homescreen will be able to view ads on nearby restaurants, hotels or other businesses through the app-installed ads mechanisms.

FB Newswire

Facebook mobile users can also find worthy news and comprehensive featured news with the new FB Newswire. Powered by News Corp's StoryFul, this new platform allows viewers of the social media to access publicly shared information from various countries worldwide. Also, journalists can use the information on this app by removing the noise and unlocking news worthy materials for their reporting.

In a report from Latin Post, Andy Mitchell, director of News and Global Media Partnerships, said: "This will include original photos, videos and status updates posted by people on the front lines of major events like protests, elections and sporting events."
