Used by hundreds of millions of persons daily, Facebook dominates social media, especially with its Share and Like options. It looks like Facebook will become even more popular with an all-new Dislike button that might debut pretty soon.

To be clear, though, there isn’t a Dislike button yet. Last week, however, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg hinted that Facebook’s engineers are currently hard at work on an upcoming Dislike button.

Having a Dislike button will reportedly fundamentally change the famous social network. However, it’s likely that Facebook won’t immediately implement this change without delivering the news to its users first.

"It is important to give people more options than just 'Like' to better express sympathy and empathy," he said, according to USA Today. "Not every moment is a good moment."

Clearly, Zuckerberg isn’t confirming the Dislike button will be featured on Facebook soon. His statement, however, suggests that he hasn’t dismissed the notion either.

Shortly after Zuckerberg gave the statement, online outlets scrambled to create a layout that featured a Facebook-looking design scheme. Scammers took it as an opportunity to phish personal details from Facebook users. They claimed the Dislike button could only be availed after filling out some surveys, compelling users to give their private details. Some took the bait, while others were more tedious and warned their fellow Facebooker users not to take part in the scam.

Tech Times pointed out that Zuckerberg and his team has been previously hesitant in installing a Dislike button on Facebook. The reasons for their hesitation remain unknown, but Zuckerberg seemed to have noticed the network's users clamour for the said feature.
