Former West Coast and Richmond Benjamin Luke "Ben" Cousins was allegedly assaulted at an East Fremantle park Sunday.

The Brownlow Medal winner was approached by an unidentified man, who is believed to be a biker, and threatened to "kill him." The confrontation purportedly was in front of several relatives of Cousins, including children.

According to police reports, during the brawl, one of the men - assumed to be the fallen AFL footballer - was thrown to the ground. A witness reported the attack to authorities, and the two men were seen leaving before the police arrived. The scuffle was said to be a minor incident.

No word yet if any of the involved parties were going to file an official complaint. The incident, according to the policen, will, therefore, not be further investigated.

Cousins was no stranger to off-field headlines.

It can be remembered that he was dismissed from the West Coast Eagles in 2007 after the police, who pulled him over for the manner of his driving, found traces of ecstasy and cocaine on a paper bill and a significant amount of prescription drugs. Ben Cousins failed to comply with a police-ordered drug assessment and was charged for possession of a prohibited drug.

The Eagles ultimately sacked him after his arrest due to breaches with the previous agreement with the football club. Police charges were later dropped.

In the same month of the incident, the 35-year-old ex-Aussie footballer flew to Los Angeles to seek further rehabilitation at the Summit Center. He relapsed after an alleged cocaine spree.

After the AFL Commission cleared him to play on the condition that he must submit to regular drug testings, Cousins was drafted by the Richmond Football Club in 2008. A year later, he announced that he was retiring. He had since been struggling with his substance abuse.

Ben Cousins fathered a second child with his long-time partner, Maylea Tinecheff, just a few weeks ago. They also have a son together named Bobby.
