“Desperate Housewives” actress Eva Longoria, who is the new Specsavers Ambassador, was not pleased with a journalist’s claim that she only wears glasses “for show.” Longoria, 40, responded on her official Twitter and Instagram accounts to the claims of journalist Jenna Clarke from The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) that she endorses a budget eyewear chain but she does not wear spectacles.

Clarke claimed in her SMH report that the Hollywood actress is a “serial offender when it comes to selling out in a not so subtle way” and she looked uncomfortable when she was recently spotted wearing her eyeglasses around Sydney, Australia. Clarke shared that she could only find two photos of Longoria wearing glasses on the Internet.

Mashable reports that Longoria is currently in Australia to promote Specsavers and the actress did not let the issue pass. Longoria was spotted at Hotel Centennial in Woollahra for the Specsavers promotional event, according to a report from Stuff.co.nz.

Longoria took to social media to post her reaction to Clarke’s article titled “The Goss: Why Eva Longoria's shilling is shameful.” Longoria pointed out in her Twitter and Instagram posts that if Clarke did her research properly, the journalist would have found more photos proving that she has been wearing prescription glasses since May 3, 2013.

Longoria tells Clarke through her open letter that her camp could have provided valid documentation if the journalist tried to contact them. Longoria continued to point out that she only wears her reading glasses at night while in bed or during breakfast while reading the newspaper.

Longoria even included some photos in her message to prove to the SMH journalist that she wore her reading glasses at certain events like the 2013 Congress for Women and Small Business and 2014 Dubai Film Festival press conference. “It sounds like maybe you need some glasses yourself. In that case @SpecsaversAustralia has some awesome, stylish glasses available! I recommend the Collette Dinnigan collection!” Longoria tweeted.
