Arsenal and English Premier League legend Thierry Henry has named Manchester United’s Paul Scholes as the greatest player the EPL has seen so far, putting the midfielder ahead of himself and others such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs, and Alan Shearer.

Henry is considered one of EPL’s greats for his superb career at Arsenal, where he managed to score 174 goals in 254 appearances for the club between 1999 and 2007, before moving on to Barcelona. He also scored 51 goals for France in his international career.

“I don't think people have given him the credit he deserves. (He's) one of the best, if not the best, I've played against, he could do anything. Unfortunately for him, when he was playing for the national team, for England, sometimes people didn't see it like that,” Henry was quoted as saying in a report by tvnewsroom.org.

“If I had a Paul Scholes in my team, everything would be around him. At Manchester United, they saw it like that, but I think Paul Scholes is one of the best I've played against in this league, and seen anywhere.”

Scholes was one of United’s greatest players, making 718 appearances for the club after graduating from their academy and winning 11 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies.

In other news, Henry has expressed his support for gay footballers, who are coming out in the open. Henry said it would be great for the game and everyone else involved, adding that he would have no problems playing with a gay teammate.

“I think it’s great, I think it’s great for the game, we’re going forward, it’s great for anyone, for any human being. It’s not a problem, we’re ultimately there to do a job. If you are confident enough to come and say it and then live with it and embrace it, then do it. Whatever you believe in, whatever you do. I was talking more about the reaction of others,” Henry said.
