A music video of Fox’s “Empire” track “Conqueror” has been viewed more than 2.7 million times since it was published on YouTube on March 2. The video features newly signed Columbia Records artist Jussie Smollett, 31, singing in the studio with Estelle, 35.

Smollett sings the first verse of “Conqueror” while Estelle takes the second verse. The two harmonized in the chorus parts.

The “Empire” character Jamal Lyon is considered to be Smollett’s breakout role. Before the Fox primetime soap opera, Smollett appeared starred in “The Skinny” and guest-starred on “The Mindy Project” and “Revenge.”

In the ninth episode of the first season of “Empire” titled “Unto The Breach,” Estelle appeared on the hit show as a guest star playing Delphine, a singer who befriended Jamal Lyon after being inspired by his performance and coming out.

“Conqueror” is Estelle’s single originally released from her album titled “True Romance.” The single was also remised as a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. Estelle’s appearance on “Empire” marked her first acting role although she also voiced Garnet of the TV series “Steven Universe.”

As a collaboration song of the “Empire” cast featuring Estelle and Smollett, “Conqueror” debuted in the 42nd spot of the Billboard Hot 100. Watch the YouTube video of their performance of the single here:
