Now that Empire patriarch is heading to prison, what happens to Jamal (Jussie Smollet) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) after Lucious (Terence Howard) revealed the heir of his kingdom? “Empire’s” executive producer Ilene Chaiken revealed a few juicy details on what to expect on the show’s upcoming season.

After the show broke all the odds in television, Chaikan admitted that it’s hard not to notice how the ratings climb every week since the show’s premiere in Jan. 7. Now that all eyes are in “Empire,” Chaiken revealed that as much as they don’t want to pay much attention to the ratings it is one measure of success that they want to focus on.

Now gearing up for “Empire’s” Season 2, Chaiken told that publication that they haven’t started planning for the second season. Together with series creators Danny Strong and Lee Daniels, Chaiken hinted that they casually talked about some ideas on how the show will begin now that the main puppeteer of the show is taking residence behind the cell.

“The plan was never to have Lucious die and to continue on without him, Chaiken told E! Online when asked about Lucious’ misdiagnosis. “Terrence Howard is really important to all of us and to the show. The plan was never to do Empire with Terrence for just a year or two. We discussed the possibility of telling that story, to keep him alive for a long time and deal with the struggles of his illness, but the truth is the creators always had in mind that it was a misdiagnosis.”

When it comes to the show’s storyline, Chaiken revealed that she is excited to see what Cookie does with her new status now that Lucious is out of the picture. She also wants to see how Cookie would resolve the ongoing conflict with Jamal as they plan to have a hostile takeover of Empire.

Another person to watch out for is Jamal who is left with an Empire to run without his father’s presence. Will he be the leader that his father hopes him to be, or is there a lot for him to overcome before he can assume the position? Is he the deserving son to sit on his father’s throne? Chaikan revealed that the stories are not over because “you ain’t seen nothing yet.”
