The previous episode of “Empire” Season 2 saw Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) getting bail and stepping out under the clear sky, thanks to his new lawyer, Thirsty Rawlings (Andre Royo). With him back on his throne and Cookie (Taraji Henson) starting her own rival record label, things are expected to heat up between the two in Episode 3 of “Empire” Season 2, titled “Fires of Heaven.”

After her failed hostile attempt to take over Empire, Cookie will now try to shape her new company, Dynasty, to take on the mighty Empire. The battle between the Emperor and the Queen looks inevitable in Episode 3 of “Empire” Season 2, and according to the synopsis, Cookie is desperate to hit back at Lucious so much so that she even teams up with Anika (Grace Gealey).

This week's episode will see Cookie and Anika planning to put up a show to get someone’s attention. That someone is none other than rapping sensation Pitbull, who is guest-starring as himself in “Empire” Season 2 Episode 3. “Fires of Heaven” will see Pitbull among the audience to watch Cookie and Anika’s performance.

Meanwhile, Lucious does not waste much time after stepping out of prison. He gets to business to make his Empire welcome a new era. On that path, the first step that he is likely to take is to find Frank Gathers’ daughter, Young Ma, played by guest-star Bre-Z Murray. He wants to sign her as Empire's new artist, with the obejctive to make money from her talent. After her father’s murder in prison, whether Young Ma joins Lucious’ record label or not is a matter of much speculation.

Lucious, according to the preview, will also be busy playing his son Jamal (Jussie Smollett) against his mother in Episode 3 of "Empire." Also he is seen saying to Andre in the promo clip, “Make this [mess] go away, then you will have what you want.”

Andre is desperate to get his foot back in Empire, and he may go to any length to get back in his father’s good books. Also he is putting his bet on his and Rhonda’s (Kaitlin Doubleday) yet-to-be-born baby to calm down his father. One of the highlights of “Fires of Heaven" is likely to be Andre's attempts to please his father.

Hakeem, on the other hand, will become his mother’s pawn. In the preview, Cookie is seen telling her youngest son to get back in the studio, as his father wants to keep them off the radio.

Interestingly, Episode 4 synopsis of “Empire” Season 2 suggests that the family members are going to push aside their differences and collaborate on a music video. This week’s episode may answer what makes them put a stop on their game of one-upmanship and unite.

“Empire” Season 2 Episode 3 airs on Fox at 9 p.m. on Oct. 7 in the U.S.
