'Empire' season 2 episode 16 spoilers: Lucious comes face-to-face with his mother again in 'The Lyon Who Cried Wolf'

In Season 2 Episode 16 of “Empire,” Lucious (Terrence Howard) meets his mother, who will surprise everyone, including himself.

"A wrench is thrown into Lucious' (Terrence Howard) deeply personal music video about his mother, when Andre (Trai Byers) discovers a dark secret. Meanwhile, Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) are compromised after pursuing secretive affairs. Then, Rhonda starts to suspect who her attacker was,” the episode synopsis states.

In the next episode, titled “The Lyon Who Cried Wolf,” Lucious will finally meet the woman who abused him when he was only a boy – his mother, Leah Walker (Leslie Uggams), writes Melty. It can mean consequences to the hit music video that catapulted the family head back to his position as company CEO.

Previously, Andre discovered the truth about what happened to his grandmother. Based on the promo video, he will be searching for her in the next episode. Andre was shown escorting an older woman who approached Lucious and tried to touch his face. Lucious responded with anger, tell Andre that he has no idea what he has done. Before, Lucious had everyone believe that his mother committed suicide.

According to CarterMatt, Lucious and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) have grown closer again in the past two episodes, controlling Empire together as co-CEOs. Lucious was shocked to hear that the board of trustees decided to make the two of them work together, but Lucious will most likely come up with a strategy to get rid of his partner as soon as possible. Their reconciliation is also expected to bring a number of conflicts, especially among their children, who thought that it was a terrible idea for the two to get romantically involved again.

The promo clip also showed Jamalhugging someone intimately in the Empire studio. Hakeem and Laura (Jamilia Velazquez) will most likely have to go through some bumps in their relationship, especially after the big reveal that Hakeem impregnated his former girlfriend.

There are three more episodes remaining in Season 2 and it was previously teased that one member of the Lyon family will fall before the ending.
