The 2013 Emmy Awards would not have been complete without paying tribute to the great men and women who have made impact in the entertainment industry. And the Primetime Emmy Awards 2013 has paid a special tribute to America’s iconic TV anti-hero, the late James Gandolfini.

This year’s Emmys has chosen Gandolfini as one of the five talents deemed in high regards for their contribution in the industry. Edie Falco paid a moving and emotional tribute to her great friend at the awards event Sunday evening, 22 Sept. Edie plays the role of James G’s wife in “The Sopranos” and she described the late actor as “Jim the Man,” her great co-star and friend.

Standing before the audience at the Nokia Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, Edie was visibly emotional as she delivers a short message paying tribute to James G. She painted a picture of Gandolfini “as a gentle and compassionate man,” a far cry from the role he plays in HBO’s hit series, “The Sopranos.”

"You can ask anybody who knew him, if you needed anything at all ever, Jim was there to take care of it before you even had a chance to ask," Edie began in the very touching tribute for James., according to NBC News.

Clearly fighting back tears, Edie choked up as she continued describing “Jim the Man” for 10 years.

Falco added, "You all knew James Gandolfini the actor. I was lucky enough to know Jim the man — for 10 years as his close colleague and pretend life partner, and for many more years as his friend. And it's Jim the man, the very dear man, that I will miss most of all."

James Gandolfini is best known for his role as Tony Soprano’s in mob series, "The Sopranos." He died of a heart attack while on vacation in Italy in June 2013.
