Director of Bethesda Game Studios, Todd Howard, has recently stated that the studio will now be focusing entirely on how to tell better stories in its open-world games. “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” and “Fallout 4,” as per Howard, still has millions of daily players. “Skyrim’s” remastered Special Edition of 2016 was an instant hit that instilled fresh lease of excitement in fans. Meanwhile, Bethesda has kept “Fallout 4” fans with regular new updates. Bethesda is also holding the E3 2017 briefing on June 11.

“The Elder Scrolls VI” is already being developed and is on the way. However, fans should not expect the game anytime soon as Bethesda is also working on a mobile game after “Fallout Shelter.” This game is yet to be announced. When asked how he felt returning to the Skyrim series with the Special Edition after working on “Fallout 4” for so many years, Howard said it was like meeting an old friend from school and realising “how much you missed spending time together.”

“When you're making a game like Skyrim, it's your whole life, and you start losing perspective on, is this fun? Is this not fun? What's good? What's bad? Being able to come back to it, you really see it--it's kind of one of those rare times when you sit down and you see something you made as a gamer. You kind of forget all the versions of a certain feature or what it took to get it there and you're just playing it for what it is,” Howard told Game Spot.

Howard also mentioned how he looks at the two games “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” and “Fallout 4.” The former allows players to forge their own stories and find their own way out whereas the latter tells a “stronger but specific story.” With the success of open-world games, Bethesda is also aiming to tell better stories in that format for its future projects.

“How do we tell a better story in an open world? With each of our games we've had successes and failures and if you ask us internally, we have new ideas that we want to explore in the future because we feel like we haven't really cracked it yet the way we think it could be,” Howard added.

Meanwhile, Glixel reported that bringing Virtual Reality (VR) to the games will bring a sea change in how gamers are currently experiencing the games. Moreover, it will also change the mindset of those who believe “Fallout 4” is just another “Fallout.”
