Ed Sheeran revealed on Thursday April 16, that he wants a role in HBO's "Game of Thrones." The singer was apparently approached in the past to make a cameo in the fantasy television series.

"There were talks ages ago of me being an extra, which could have been cool. But every time they shoot it's the time I tour in the UK.” The singer told The Sun, according to Metro.co.uk. Sheeran then added that this year he's got time and he was going to "hound" them till he gets a role.

If he does get a role, it won't be the first time the singer will be appearing in a Tv show. Sheeran has already made cameos in "Home and Away"and "Sesame Street."

He will, also, not be the first high profile musician to appear in "Game of Thrones." The singer will be following in the footsteps of "Snow Patrol" front-man Gary Lightbody and "Coldplay" drummer Will Champion. The duo each had a cameo in season 3 in 2013. Gary Lightbody was on of Roose Bolton's soldier while Champion was one of the musicians/assassins at the Red Wedding. (Watch both the videos below.)

According to Billboard.com, on April 10, while on a radio show "The Hit," the singer/song writer was gifted with a sword from the "Game of Thrones." The video, shot in the studio, shows the "Lego House" singer at a loss for words as he holds Jon Snow's sword. (Watch the video below.)

Sheeran then talks of a previous incident in which he almost impaled Taylor Swift with another sword. That sword was a prop sword from "Lord of the Rings," a gift from director Peter Jackson. The singer then thanked his hosts for the belated birthday gift. He also added that he will get Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow in "Game of Thrones," to sign it.

The fifth season of hit Tv show premiered on April 12, but a day before the premiere, the first four episodes of the new season were leaked. According to Consumerist.com, some viewers were using accounts in Periscope, a Twitter owned live streaming service, to illegally re-broadcast the episode.

HBO has sent take-down notices to the users doing that. The report also said the Periscope users found guilty of doing that could also have their accounts suspended. The report also added that the network is not happy that there is no "proactive" way to identify infringing behavior. In a statement, the network indicates that Periscope should be doing more to prevent this from happening.

The next episode of "Game of Thrones" will air on Sunday April 19.
