Ed Sheeran had fans baffled lately over his new lion tattoo after he said the ink is not real. However, the singer was apparently just playing a joke on his fans as he once again revealed that the massive design on his chest is genuine. His tattoo artist Kevin Paul also confirmed that the tattoo is real.

In a photo shared on his Instagram page, Sheeran admitted that he was “only joking” about not getting the lion tattoo. Hours after he shared the said photo, he posted another snap, this time showing a part of the lion’s mane. The British crooner revealed he had to cover up the huge tattoo with makeup for a TV show.

His revelation prompted responses from fans who told him he’s being funny while others thought he was being weird. Regardless, each of his photos has received over 200,000 likes as of this writing.

Sheeran’s tattoo artist Paul also confirmed with Now Magazine that the “Thinking Out Loud” singer’s lion tattoo is definitely “not fake.” Speaking exclusively with Now’s Dean Uzzell, Paul said the ink couldn’t be any more real considering the amount of time it took him to put it on the singer’s chest.

“All I’m saying is it has taken me six hours so far to put it on his chest,” Paul told Uzzell in the Now Magazine report.

Joe.ie says the singer had to cover the huge lion design for his cameo appearance in Australia’s soap “Home and Away.” Sheeran will play the role of Teddy, one of the children that Marilyn Chambers (Emily Symons) took care of when she lived in the United Kingdom.

Sheeran’s cameo scenes reportedly involve him returning to Summer Bay to the surprise of everyone because as it turns out, he is actually the celebrity singer. He then treats everyone to a special performance.

Mirror UK shared a photo of the singer with Symons walking along the beach. Sheeran was reportedly asked to appear in “Home and Away” during his tour in Australia earlier this year. Alec Snow, who plays Matt Page in “Home and Away,” revealed that the cast and crew were starstruck when they saw the singer. Sheeran, meanwhile, thought it was funny to see everyone getting overwhelmed over his presence on the set.

“It was an awesome experience filming with Ed because he seemed like a really down-to-earth, nice guy that genuinely wanted to be there,” Snow told Mirror UK .
