The 2012 Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hills Hilton Sunday gathered celebrities to give notice to those worthy of acclaim, and here are the early winners at the ongoing ceremony.

Kelsey Grammer beat out "Breaking Bad's" Bryan Cranston, "Boardwalk Empire's" Steve Buscemi and "Homeland's" Damian Lewis for Best Actor in a Television Drama for his performance in the show, "Boss." It was a surprise since many are expecting Cranston to take home the award for his stellar acting in the award-winning AMC drama.

Idris Elba of "Luther" nabbed the trophy for Best Actor in a Mini-Series, outplaying Dominic West, Bill Nighty, William Hurt and Hugh Bonnevile of "Downtown Abbey." "Homeland" took the award for Best Television Series, Drama, winning over the favored HBO shows, "Game of Thrones" and "Boardwalk Empire".

Kate Winslet's performance in "Mildred Pierce" gained Best Actress in a Mini Series, waving the flag for HBO's quality streak. Laura Dern took the Best Actress in a Television Comedy or Musical for her acting in "Enlightened." Other nominees who vied for the award were Zooey Deschanel ("The New Girl"), Tina Fey ("30 Rock"), Laura Linney ("The Big C"), and Amy Poehler ("Parks and Recreation.")

"Downtown Abbey" won Best Mini Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, triumphing over "The Hour," "Mildred Pierce," and "Too Big to Fail".
