Techland’s zombie-infested open-world survival game, “Dying Light” appears to have gamers in its thrall, as the developer recently announced that a whopping 3.2 million are currently clearing the streets of Harran. The company has also been busy patching, tweaking and fixing bugs, one of which is is the notorious Item Duplication exploit. However, it appears their efforts have been in vain, as an intrepid gamer has found a way around the patch.

The announcement detailing the runaway success of “Dying Light” was made on the developer’s official Twitter account. A short message thanking gamers for their patronage accompanied the announcement. As noted by Attack of the Fanboy, the success of "Dying Light" comes despite an staggered release schedule, which saw the game launch first in some territories, while being delayed up to a month in others. Nevertheless, the delay doesn't appear to have affected the game's performance in the slightest and it's now available digitally and at retail in all territories.

“We're overwhelmed by the outbreak of ‘Dying Light’ fans worldwide. Thank you, here's to many more nights in Harran,” reads the message.

As previously reported, Techland has steadily improved “Dying Light” by adding post-release content, such as a new hard mode, multiple new weapons and the promise of more content to come. The team has also been working hard to improve performance, squash bugs and fix exploits. One such bug, nixxed in the latest patch, is the Item Duplication exploit, which allows skilled players to throw a weapon and drop it from their inventory simultaneously, effectively creating a duplicate. Since weapons degrade with use in “Dying Light,” these duplicates come in handy.

A new video, posted by YouTube user Uber Lurker, shows off a new, innovative way to approach loot-harvesting. The method requires quick reflexes, a grappling hook and perfect timing. Uber Lurker also posted step-by-step instructions on Reddit:

Requirements

- Grappling Hook

- Ultimate Combatant Power Level 24 Skill

Steps

- Locate a vertical wall that will allow you to grapple, but not hang on

- Aim at the wall, but be careful not to grapple too high up or you might die from fall damage

- Once the grapple animation ends, click the Attack Button while falling to throw the weapon you wish to duplicate away

- Grapple anywhere else while falling and a new duplicate weapon will appear, collect the duplicate quickly, as they disappear after a short period of time
