“Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F” will highlight a faceoff between Goku and Frieza, as shown in the new clip from the upcoming Japanese animated feature film, which is the ninth instalment based on the “Dragon Ball” franchise.

The clip, which was obtained by Entertainment Weekly, runs two minutes and 27 seconds. It shows how the “Dragon Ball” series’ greatest villain returns to exact his revenge and Goku trying to stop him with the help of his friends.

In “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F,” Frieza returns with a powerful new form and an army of 1,000 soldiers. This requires Goku and Vegeta to reach new levels of strength in order to protect Earth from the vengeful villain.

As the clip shows, Frieza wastes no time as he comes face to face with Goku. With his newfound strength, the villain puts his old rival, along with Vegeta and other memorable “Dragon Ball” character to the test.

As the most evil overlord of the galaxy, Frieza cannot be stop by the complete destruction of his physical form. He has been resurrected after years in spiritual purgatory and he plans to take his revenge on the Earth’s Z-Fighters.

Aside from Goku, Frieza and Vegeta, other characters to be expected in “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F” are Bulma, Kame Sen’nin, Kuririn, Piccolo, Trunks, Tenshinhan, Jaco, Videl, Dr. Briefs, Android 18, Shisami, Shenlong, Yogen-gyo, Pilaf, Mai, Sorbet and Tagoma, among others.

After its box office success in Japan, where it was originally shown, “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F” will be the first ever Japanese film to have received screenings at 4DX theatres and to be screens in IMAX 3D.

Following the 2014 film “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods,” Fathom Events and Funimation have teamed up to bring “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F” to North American theatres for a limited theatrical release from Aug. 4 to 12 only.

“Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F" is the second film Akira Toriyama, the series creator, personally supervised. It will debut on more than 1,000 screens with tickets available on the official “Dragon Ball Z” website. For those in attendance, the film will also screen with a specially created 15-minute pre-show.
