Both familiar and new faces have just settled in at the small town in Bampton, Oxfordshire, to begin filming for Season 4 of hit series Downton Abbey. Downton fans are in for a big treat for the upcoming season with rumours of a new love interest brewing between Isobel Crawley and Tom Branson - - in the storyline, that is.

Seen in the early photos released for Season 4 is Isobel Wilton, the character played by Penelope Wilton. Isobel was snapped on the set looking elegant in a chic grey suit, teaming it up with a pair of gloves. She completed her looks with a hat, a great ensemble for the scene.

A close look at the photo showed that Isobel talking to Tom Branson, the widowed chauffeur. She was also walking on the set beaming, which could mean light at the end of the tunnel for the cast who were filmed grieving for the death of son, Matthew Crawley, in the Season 3 finale.

It will be recalled that the world grieved with Isobel and the whole cast, following the shocking death of Matthew. He died in a car crash shortly after he welcomed his first child. As if his life was doomed to replace a newborn, the story left Downton fans feeling for Matthew and Isobel.

Meanwhile, on a lighter note, it was not at all sad either for Tom Branson, whose wife Lady Sybil also died in the last season. Played by Jessica Brown Findlay, Tom’s wife, whose death had brought him immense sadness, will be replaced by another beauty, rumoured to be introduced in the upcoming season as his new love interest.

It is believed that Tom’s new love will be portrayed by Daisy Lewis, a 28-year-old British actress. While she hasn’t even started on the series as of yet, Daisy is already making a buzz as her character is described to shake things up a bit in the upcoming season.

On the set, Dais was snapped looking gorgeous in her hat, cream coat and knee-length skirt.

The Mirror described Daisy’s role as one of the major story lines in the hit series, said Entertainmentwise.com.

The Mirror: "Her romance with Tom will be one of the main storylines of the series. He will begin to develop feelings for her and they start a secret affair. Tom will have an even bigger role in the new series after ­becoming the estate manager of Downton."

Filming of the scenes for the upcoming season also saw other cast members including Carson, who plays the Crawley's loyal butler and Mrs Patmore, the cook. They are joined by Matt Milne who plays the role of footman Alfred Nugent. Reports have it that Milne is rumoured to be filming his final scene for Downton Abbey.

Downton Abbey begins airing in British television's PBS on January 5, 2014.
