British period drama series “Downton Abbey” will be returning for its swansong season later this year. The final sixth season is expected to tie up most of the storylines, and one of them is of Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) and Ms Hughes (Phyllis Logan). The two are getting married in the final season of “Downton Abbey.”

“Downton Abbey” Season 5 finale saw Ms. Hughes accepting Mr. Carson’s marriage proposal, saying "of course I'll marry you, you old booby. I thought you'd never ask.” The elderly butler told her that he had bought a cottage in both their names, hoping that they would get married and retire there.

Mirror recently posted photos from the filming of Ms. Hughes and Mr. Carson’s wedding scene at Burghclere. The photos published do not feature the couple getting married, but the guests attending the wedding can be seen. The characters are dressed in the finest costumes for the occasion, which according to Mirror’s report, looked “splendid. “

Logan was not seen at the filming site while Bonneville was seen looking dapper in a suit, with a summer flower, Mirror reported. In the photos, Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville), Lady Edith Crawley (Laura Carmichael), Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith), Lady Rose (Lily James) can be seen. One of the photos provides a glimpse of Lady Edith with Bertie Pelham (Harry Hadden-Paton).

Pelham first made an appearance in the Christmas special episode of “Downton Abbey” Season 5. He joined the Crawley family for the grouse season at Brancaster. Edith was by his side while he was shooting and later he asked her to dance with him, which she did.

It looks like Edith will get her happy ending with Pelham, though it has not yet been confirmed. There is no official word yet on whether Matthew Goode is returning as well to reprise his role as Henry Talbot. He and Hadden-Paton made an appearance together in the Christmas special episode. TV Line had reported in November that “Downton Abbey” producers were keen on having him on the show for Season 6, but it depends on his “Good Wife” Season 7 contract. According to TV Line’s recent report, the actor will not appear on “Good Wife” Season 7 as a series regular. Goode is expected to make a couple of guest appearances on the show.

TV Line also reported that Goode is set to return in the final season of “Downton Abbey” “in a big way apparently.” Also executive producer Gareth Neame told Variety in March that “… the way we’ve filmed their (Mary and Henry) goodbye kind of suggests we haven’t seen the last of him." If he returns, he may once again pique the interest of Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery) and the final season may see the two taking steps towards each other.
