It has been three years since the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fans were treated to the sight of Brock Lesnar. On that fateful night of December 2011, Lesnar lost to Alistair Overweem and all but closed the chapter of the UFC career of the Beast Incarnate as he announced that he was leaving the outfit for good.

In the months that followed, Lesnar made his return to the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and immediately made waves, capturing the world heavyweight championship and stopping the undefeated streak of The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30. With his contract with Vince McMahon and company about to expire early 2015, speculations began to surface that he is considering a return to the UFC, a rumour which was further fueled by UFC president Dana White. During Monday's presser for "UFC The Time is Now," White clarified that the UFC is opening the doors to a Lesnar return.

"If Brock wants to come back; I have a great relationship with him, the door is open for him. And if he doesn't, I wish him all the best," said the UFC president according to Yahoo Sports.

With Lesnar seemingly regaining his health after a complicated bout with mononucleosis, the four-time WWE world heavyweight champion has long been rumoured to weighing his options, which includes a second run at the mixed martial arts scene. He has a huge following in the UFC dating back to his legendary fights with Frank Mir and Randy Couture. At age 37, it is doubtful how much gas he has left in the tank but with White positively welcoming him into the fold, it is apparent that there is still a ton left. Rival outfit Bellator has also expressed its intention to snatch away Lesnar but White maintains that if Lesnar ever chooses to go back to mixed martial arts, the UFC would be the talent's first choice.

The interest of White is understandable as the Beast Incarnate sold more than 1 million pay-per-view in three of his fights. He still has a great following due to his heel personality in the WWE. Followers of both professional wrestling and mixed martial arts tends to generate a lot of views for PPV and a Lesnar return could be great when his contract expires in March 2015. Nevertheless, the concept of him returning to the Octagon may just be a way to bluff the WWE and re-up its pot. However, with his appearances becoming rarer in WWE, the speculations are beginning to hold more water.
