More casting news has been released online for “Doctor Strange” as production continues in London. The Scott Derrickson-directed film may have found its female lead in Rachel McAdams.

Heroic Hollywood cited his Los Angeles sources who claimed “The Notebook” star has been offered the female lead role in “Doctor Strange.” No other details were provided such as which character Rachel McAdams is likely to portray.

Comic Book reports that there is a big chance that Rachel McAdams will play the role of Clea. In the Marvel comics, Clea is Doctor Stephen Strange’s love interest who later on became his wife. She has been with Strange in many of his battles. She is described as the brave daughter of Umar and the niece of Dormammu. Clea comes from the Dark Dimension and has long supported Strange as the Sorcerer Supreme.

Cinema Blend likewise claimed Clea is the best character Rachel McAdams could play in “Doctor Strange.” The site described the Sorcerer Supreme’s love interest as a sorceress who is also very well-versed with the mystical arts like Strange. She reportedly led the resistance against Dormammu when she decided to reside in the Dark Dimension with Strange.

“Clea is the most well-known female in Doctor Strange’s supporting cast, if you had to bet on what McAdams’ role will be in the film, you’d be wise to put your money on this sorceress,” writer Adam Holmes said in the Cinema Blend report.

Rachel McAdams is currently busy with her latest TV series involvement. She stars in the second season of the HBO hit crime series “True Detective.” Among her other notable film projects include “Wedding Crashers” and “Sherlock Holmes,” where she played the love interest of Robert Downey Jr.’s character. She also starred in two time-travelling love story films including “The Time Traveler’s Wife” and “About Time.”

“Doctor Strange” also stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role of Sorcerer Supreme. The comic book adaptation, with screenplay from Jon Spaihts, is scheduled for release in the U.S. on Nov. 4, 2016. Tilda Swinton was also rumoured to have been considered for the role of the Ancient One.
