Production details for “Doctor Strange” have so far been scarce. Aside from the official announcement of Benedict Cumberbatch taking the titular role, film details have been limited to Scott Derrickson providing subtle hints to his film’s plot through social media. The recent clue provided could see the Sorcerer Supreme meeting an “ancient foe” called “Nightmare.”

Scott Derrickson may have just provided a possible plot detail to his “Doctor Strange” film with his recent post on Twitter. The director/writer shared a photo taken from one of the pages from “Strange Tales #110,” where it shows the Sorcerer Supreme’s encounter with a hooded figure. The image was not captioned but has nonetheless already received 101 likes and 56 retweets. It has also received comments with user Dave Elliot claiming of possible casting news for Clea and Dormammu. While user Dewi added the photo hints of a possible flashback scene in the movie.

In this five-page introduction of Doctor Strange, “Master of Black Magic,” the Sorcerer Supreme enters a man’s dreams. According to Comics Bulletin, the story revolves around a businessman asking Stephen Strange for help since he’s been having nightmares. Strange reportedly soon discovers that the man is haunted by guilt over ruining people’s business. The businessman tries to kill the Sorcerer Supreme to keep him from revealing his secret but Strange with his magical powers is undefeated.

While this story supposedly mainly focuses on the businessman’s dreams, the site said it also introduces readers to Doctor Strange’s master The Ancient One and to “Nightmare,” the “ruler of the Dream Dimension.” According to Samurai Frog, Doctor Strange meets Nightmare inside the man’s dream. He is described as an “ancient foe” who prevents the Sorcerer Supreme from returning to his mortal form. However, Strange manages to get pass Nightmare in the dream.

It’s still unknown whether this story will come alive in Scott Derrickson’s film or if viewers will even see a Nightmare cameo. There have been reports of “Doctor Strange” not being an origin story and it’s interesting to note that the director would share a photo from the “Strange Tales #110” comicbook. According to Comics Bulletin, the latter also does not provide an origin story for the Sorcerer Supreme.
