In its release last year, “Divinity: Original Sin” impressed a lot of fans with the complexity and beauty of the top-down roleplaying game, or RPG, which plays similarly to other RPGs like “Baldur’s Gate” and “Diablo.” The game was such a success, gathering $944, 282 (AU $ 1.31million), which was double than its $400,000 (AU $556, 424) goal. It seems the developer Larian Studios is doing great once again as the game's sequel reportedly gathered a lot of funds on Kickstarter in less than a day.

Larian Studios’ “Divinity: Original Sin 2” got a ton of support from backers which enabled it to surpass the $500,000 (AU $695, 531) Kickstarter goal in less than a day since its launch. According to the Kickstarter page of “Divinity: Original Sin 2,” there’s still 33 days to go for the campaign. Its backers have reached more than 17,000, whose collective funds make up more than $780,000 (AU $1.08million) as of this writing. At this rate, the funds could even surpass the amount made by the first title.

In an interview with Polygon, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke stated, "The game is funded because of the original's success. We can already do a lot of things. But we'd like to expand from here. We'd like to create more origin stories. Each origin story means basically hiring an extra writer because of how far they go in affecting the game. We also want to expand the skills and spell systems. An extra race would be cool."

The developer started the Kickstarter campaign this week to aid in the development of the game which they have already completed. The funds they are asking supporters for will be used to make the game better.

The first game in the series launched in June 20, 2014 on Windows PC. It was well-received by gamers, which is why Larian Studios developed a sequel. Since its release, “Divinity: Original Sin” was ported to the Mac. A Playstation 4 and Xbox One version is reportedly in the works.
