Dick Smith is back with a new and improved website. The electronics retailer has relaunched its website a day after its last physical stores have closed down.

Online-only retailer Kogan, which has bought all of Dick Smith’s online businesses in March, announced that it would continue the store’s legacy from June 1. As it turned out, the newly relaunched Dick Smith website became active on Wednesday.

Still sporting its trademark yellow and black colours, the layout of the new Dick Smith site looks remarkably like Kogan’s. It has over 5,500 products at “leading prices,” more than 1,800 of those will be available with Fast Dispatch.

It is currently running a “relaunch sale,” which includes Android and iPhone deals, LED TVs, laptops, cameras and other items. Noticeably absent from the brands featured on the website is the eponymous Dick Smith home brand.

“The new and improved dicksmith.com.au is open for business, and it’s better than ever,” David Shafer, the executive director of both Kogan and Dick Smith, said. “We are extremely proud of the speed with which we were able to relaunch the Dick Smith online business, with a leading website, product range and back-end systems to power the operation.”

Shafer added that all orders on the Dick Smith site will come with the full backing of Kogan.com.

Dick Smith saved by Kogan, to be restructured into online-only business

Once Australia’s leading electronics seller, Dick Smith collapsed and was placed into receivership in January. It was announced in February that all of its 300 plus stores in Australia and New Zealand would close down not later than May 3. This amounted to thousands of jobs lost.

In March, Kogan had acquired the company’s online business for an undisclosed amount. Dick Smith would be restructured into an online-only business using the same existing back-end logistics and supplier arrangements as Kogan.

As for the warranties that Dick Smith previously announced it wouldn’t honour anymore, they are still valid. The Warranty Group confirmed that the company would honour all valid claims in Australia and New Zealand from 2008 up until Dick Smith’s closure in February.
