Prince George celebrated his birthday privately with his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and his sister Princess Charlotte in their home in Anmer Hall. Some details of his second birthday celebration on July 22 have just been revealed.

Australian magazine Woman’s Day described the toddler’s birthday celebration as a “low key” affair. Only a few invited guests, children and adults, were present at Kate Middleton and Prince William’s mansion at their Norfolk home. Prince George’s second birthday party reportedly started at four in the afternoon, with guests arriving in their Range Rovers and Land Rover 4x4 cars, and some in their VW Passat. A postman was also seen arriving with loads of presents and cards for Prince George.

The Express said loud voices from the children were overheard at one point as the guests entered the doors to Anmer Hall. Prince George’s second birthday party reportedly lasted for almost two hours before guests started leaving the estate. Prince Philip was photographed leaving the party with a blonde woman, the same woman he arrived with at Anmer Hall. It’s believed the 94-year old was accompanied by an old family friend, Lady Penny Brabourne.

According to the Express, the Duchess of Cambridge’s mother, Carole Middleton, took care of the party necessities and was reportedly also at the celebration. But it was Kate Middleton and Prince William who reportedly organised their son’s private party. William took a day's leave off from his work with East Anglia to oversee the party with his wife.

Unfortunately, Prince George’s granddad Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles were not present at his second birthday party. They had prior engagements to attend to in the West Country. Queen Elizabeth II also missed the party with Prince Harry, as the latter is still in Africa. Although Kate Middleton’s siblings, Pippa and James, were present for the future king’s first birthday, it’s unclear if they were also present at his second.

Ahead of the celebrations, Kensington Palace shared a photo of Prince George to mark his second birthday on July 21. On their official Twitter page, the royal family shared a portrait of the toddler with his father, the Duke of Cambridge Prince William. In the photo taken by photographer Mario Testino, the young prince is seen leaning towards the camera with his cheeky grin. The portrait was reportedly taken during Princess Charlotte’s christening at St. Mary Magdalene Church on July 5.
