The Cupertino-based tech mogul is an undisputed leader when it comes to innovation and producing slim and powerful laptops, but now Dell is giving it tough competition. Recently, Dell launched its new laptop, the Dell XPS 15.

Apple’s MacBooks have garnered fans across the globe due to its retina display, long battery life and PCIe flash storage. The device just got better by including the hardware upgrades such as a USB-C port and a redesigned trackpad. The 12-inch retina MacBook is probably a favourite laptop around the world, but what makes Dell a perfect competitor for Apple’s MacBook?

Dell has released the XPS 15 as the cheapest Windows 10 powered laptop with a price tag of AU$2099. After the price reduction on 2015 MacBooks, the 12-inch MacBook Pro is now priced at $1,999, the 13-inch at $2,799 and the 15-inch at $3,799. The price reduction has sparked speculations that the 2016 MacBook would arrive in the market next year so all retailers are gearing up to clearing shelves by slashing of prices to make space for the new MacBook.

In terms of its weight and portability, the Dell XPS 15 has an aluminium build and weighs 1.88 kilograms, which is lesser than MacBook by 2kg. Therefore, Dell’s machine is as sturdy as MacBook.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro was launched in late 2013 and is powered by Intel Quad-core i7 processor clocked at 2GHz coupled with 8GB RAM which can be expanded up to 16GB. The MacBook runs on OS X Mavericks (10.9) and has a screen resolution of 2880 x 1800, 220ppi. The Apple MacBook Pro comes with three storage options such as 256GB, 512GB and 1TB and all includes connectivity options like 802.11ac Wi‑Fi wireless networking IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n compatible, Bluetooth 4.

Dell XPS 15 has a screen resolution of 15.6-inhc with a resolution of 3, 200 x 1880, 238ppi. The device is powered by Intel’s Quad-core i7 processor clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with 16GB DDR 3 RAM. XPS 15 runs on Windows 8.1 (64 bit). It has a storage of 512GB SSD. It includes connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260.

In other words, Dell XPS 15 can be your altenative option if you are not a MacBook fan or you would want to replace your MacBook with other laptops. Dell offers the laptop at a cheaper price with great specifications as compared to MacBooks.
