While Superman and Batman have gotten their fair share of wide publicity, another superhero that is up for the big screen is Aquaman.

If we were to pit them against their Greek gods counterpart, Aquaman would definitely take the spot of Poseidon and nobody plays it easy with the King of the Sea.

Aquaman, however, has been subject to mockery by many of avid DC readers. For one, most people think that his superpower is just being able to talk to marine life. Did we mention his ultra-fancy tight costume?

DC Entertainment has expressed its interest to bring the King of the Sea to the big screen. Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns said, "He's a priority character for the company."

Warner Bros. has already made that intention crystal clear by giving Aquaman airtime on television, with his new TV Show. The company is also planning to release a direct-to-DVD animated feature.

The company reveals that the plot could largely revolve around Aquaman's tumultuous love affair and his own share of villains to battle. Producers are trying to create a new image for the often mocked superhero by giving a more "gritty" look complete with long hair, beard and a harpoon in hand.

While most comic readers would still love to see the likes of Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent on the big screen, screenwriters would definitely love Aquaman as there is more leeway for a story to develop. The only constraints they have to work around are: (1) he lives under the sea and (2) he is capable of talking to marine life.

Still, it is a daunting job for the producers. Batman and Superman installments have racked up a fat bank account with their profits. Could Aquaman give the same for the companies involved?
