Days of our Lives” (“DOOL”) has taken a two-week break to give way to NBC’s coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. As fans gear up for the long-running soap’s return, the network has provided a sneak peek of what’s in store for them on the next season.

In the preview video (watch below), Theresa (Jen Lilley) and Brady (Eric Martsolf) can’t contain their happiness as they finally get reunited with Tate. After several days of being separated from their son, the couple is elated to have him back in their arms. However, their celebration is cut short when the Brady arrests Victor (John Aniston) for conspiracy related to the Tatenapping case. Followers of “DOOL” would remember that despite Victor’s denials, pieces of evidence point towards him as a culprit and even Maggie had a vision of his involvement.

Amid the kerfuffle, Sonny (Freddie Smith) confronts Deimos (Vincent Irizarry) and accuses him of setting Victor up. Speaking of Deimos, things between him and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) continue to heat up and they decide to take things to a whole new level. What she doesn’t know, however, is that her “BFF” is hiding a dirty little secret – that she’s pregnant with Deimos’ baby. Considering Nicole’s accelerating relationship with Deimos, Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) may find that the most convenient ruse is to make it appear that Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) is her baby’s father. Philip is all too willing to pretend, but the clip shows Nicole may be too smart not to find out the truth.

Meanwhile, Chad (Billy Flynn) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) are struggling to cope with the loss of Abby (Kate Mansi). Fans are anticipating the appearance of Marci Miller who is set to make her “DOOL” debut soon. The trailer shows Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) fighting for her life after suffering from a devastating injury.

The storyline for “DOOL” favourite Hope (Kristian Alfonso) also gets even more exciting. As Aiden (Daniel Cosgrove) takes on the role of the DA, his first agenda is to make his ex confess to a bloody secret. “I want you to admit that you killed Stefano,” Aiden tells Hope.

In yet another twisted event, three “Days” villains break out of prison to exact revenge on their enemies: Orpheus (George DelHoyo), Clyde (James Read) and Xander (Paul Telfer). Clyde immediately goes to Kate (Lauren Koslow) for retribution, while Xander heads to Therese. As she prepares for her wedding with Brady, Xander sneaks up to her and threatens to kill her. Elsewhere, Orpheus arrives at the wedding venue and holds Eve (Kassie DePaiva) as a hostage.
