Sci-Fi movie fans are spoiled for choice this month. Just a few weeks before the release of “Predators,” there is another film to check out. “The Dawnseeker” has a very familiar plot; a group of mercenaries travel to an alien planet to find a mineral to save Earth. Instead, they are all hunted by a highly advanced alien.

The trailer of the film [see below] shows “The Dawnseeker” to be “Predators” on an alien planet. Readers who just can’t get enough of alien hunting action will enjoy the film.

From scenes of a dying planet Earth to the action on the alien planet, the film looks promising, even though it looks like it could have been much better with just a slightly bigger budget.

According to the plot, the film is set in the year 2245. The sun is threatening to destroy life on Earth. Five mercenaries are hired to travel to an uncharted planet to collect a rare mineral known as stardust to replenish the dying star.

When the mercenaries crash land on the alien planet they get more than what they bargained for. A highly advanced alien starts stalking them, and hunting them one at a time.

The film has a hint of a horror tone, with the alien appearing from behind to claim a victim in the trailer. Apart from the alien hunter there appear to be some alien dogs as well.

The film has been directed by Justin Price, who has worked on a few horror films before. The films that Price has directed include “Dark Moon Rising,” “Snare,” “The 13th Friday,” and “Alien Reign of Man.”

“The Dawnseeker” is set to be released on Aug. 16 in the US. The cast members of the film include Franziska Schissler (Fenix), Jason Skeen (Otto), Alex Giuffreda (Jax), and Alexander Kane (York).
