The action-filled blockbuster movie "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" have received positive reviews from various critics even pointing out that it is worthy of Oscar nominations.

According to Suprateek Chatterjee of First Post, Andy Serkis is God. Based on his review, the critic stated that Andy Serkis is the future of acting as motion capture is the future of movie business. He pleaded that if the movie gets even just one Oscar nomination, let it be for Andy Serkis.

Andy Serkis played the role of Caesar, the leader of the new generation of apes who have acquired improved genetic intelligence. Set 10 years ahead of time, the "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" revolved around the growing nation of apes with who have reached a fragile peace as they moved towards human civilisation. In the story, Caesar was the husband of Cornelia (played by Judy Greer) and the father of a teenager named River (played by Nick Thurston). Caesar taught the apes how to speak and understand little English, to ride, to hunt, and to live just like the early humans.

However, the peace that reigned at the ape generation was only short-lived for they were threatened by the human survivors of the previously overwhelming viral pandemic. Both the apes and the human survivors were brought to the periphery of war as the two groups struggle to come out as the most dominant species.

"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" was given an overall score of 83 based on the 17 critics who have given their review at Metacritic with two critics giving a perfect score of 100.

Steve Persal of Time Magazine stated that even under the technologically genius digital makeup, the apes in the movie maintained a remarkably human core. He stated that Serkis' movie performance with expressive eyes as his wife gave birth indeed made him eligible for the Oscars. The movie critic also argued that Tobby Kebbell who played the role of Koba is also worthy of Oscars nomination for his avoidance from being shot at the minstrel act and his astonishing reprise.

The movie director Matt Evans could not agree more on the movie critics. In an article from Screenrant, he stated that having worked intimately with both actors, he what they were as actors.

"I think that the two of them are incredible. Andy and Toby are two of the best actors I've ever worked with," the director stated.
